The Nearly New Shop is Louisville's oldest and largest resale store, with
tremendous bargains in clothing for adults, children, and infants, as well
as vintage garments, collectibles, and items for the home. Entirely non-profit, Nearly New is the major fund raiser for the National Council of Jewish Women, Louisville Section (NCJW). All proceeds support over 20 Louisville community service programs that help troubled youths, underprivileged children and, senior citizens such as 4C (Community Coordinated Child Care), Kentucky Youth Advocates, and New American Resettlement Program. Each year, nearly 2000 individuals and local businesses donate new and gently used merchandise and NCJW members inspect, size, categorize, and tag our mechandise which is in excellent condition. We are especially proud of our Men's and Women's Designer Departments which feature top labels such as Georgio Armani, Calvin Klein, DKNY, Escada, Dana Buchman, Ellen Tracy, and St. Johns just to name a few. The Nearly New Shop, which is located at 1250 Bardstown Road in the lower level of the Mid-City Mall (502-454-6633), is open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., year round. The store is handicapped accessible and has unlimited free parking. It is the site of the Fall Fashion Encore and Spring Fling. Remember, clothes must be on hangers or neatly folded in boxes. In the fall, NCJW holds its famous two day Fashion Encore event, when the
entire shop is opened up, showcasing 350 racks of items. Thousands of people from a dozen different states come to shop the hundreds of racks of clothing that are sold at tremendous bargains. Fashion Encore started in 1976 as a giant sale held at the Fairgrounds; the event moved in 1994 to the Nearly New shop located in the lower level of the Mid-City Mall, 1250 Bardstown Road.
