"Stop the Violence 5K Run/Walk"

As part of Domestic Violence Month, the Louisville Section of the National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) will host the Third Annual Stop the Violence 5K Run/Walk on Sunday, October 29, 2006. The race will start at 2:00 p.m. at Slugger Field. The competitive part of the race is a female only event but everyone, but male and female, are encouraged to participate in the walk or to volunteer. From families and individuals to seasoned runners and occasional walkers, all are welcome to particpate in this event to raise awareness about:
Spouse Abuse - Child Abuse - Elder Abuse - and Dating Violence.

Statistics show domestic violence is on the rise and involves not only spousal and partner abuse but child and elder abuse, as well. This event will benefit NCJW and the following agencies that deal with these issues every day:

Family & Children First
The Family Place
Jewish Family and Vocational Service
UofL PEACC
